Statutory Notice: Proposal to close Homewood College, Brighton

 

Notice is given in accordance with section 15(1) of the Education and Inspections

Act 2006, as amended, and the School Organisation (Establishment and Discontinuance of Schools) Regulations 2013, that Brighton & Hove City Council, Hove Town Hall, Norton Road, Hove, East Sussex BN3 3BQ (“the Council”) is proposing to discontinue (close) Homewood College, 27 Queensdown School Road, Brighton BN1 7LA with effect from 31 December 2024.

 

Homewood College is a maintained community special school in Brighton and Hove. 

  

The current age range of the school is 11 to 16. The Local Authority proposes to

close the school from 31 December 2024. No places have been commissioned at the school since September 2024. All students on roll at the school and who would have been in Key Stage 3 and 4 in September 2024 have been moved to more appropriate Social Emotional and Mental Health provision in line with their assessed needs.
